Why Canorous Exists

This week offered a quiet but meaningful reminder of why Canorous Music Publishing exists.

Not simply to release music.
Not only to build a catalog.
But to create space for composers to be seen, supported, and presented with care.

From the beginning, Canorous was built on the belief that music deserves thoughtful stewardship. That scores are not just products, but stories. That composers are not just contributors, but partners. And that publishing, when done well, becomes a form of advocacy.

Over time, the vision has expanded. While our roots are deeply connected to choral and vocal traditions, Canorous is not defined by a single genre. We are defined by values: clarity, integrity, collaboration, and long-term artistic purpose.

Growth at Canorous has been intentional. Often slow. Always deliberate.
And I’ve come to see that as a strength.

We are building a foundation that allows composers to trust the process, musicians to trust the music, and audiences to experience work that has been handled with respect from the first note to the final performance.

There is still much ahead — new repertoire, new partnerships, new directions. But the core remains unchanged: to publish meaningful music with care and purpose.
