Our Story

Canorous Music Publishing was founded with a clear purpose: to support composers and provide conductors, educators, and performers with thoughtfully curated choral and vocal repertoire that balances artistic depth with practical performance needs.

Founded in 2011 and rebranded as Canorous Music Publishing in 2020, Canorous reflects more than a decade of experience supporting composers and performers while continuing to evolve in response to the changing artistic and educational landscape. From the beginning, the company has been guided by a commitment to clarity of notation, musical integrity, and respect for the choral tradition.

Following its rebranding (2020–2021), Canorous released its first publications under the current imprint, establishing editorial and engraving standards that continue to shape the catalog today. These early releases laid the foundation for a publishing philosophy centered on intentional curation and long-term artistic value.

As the catalog expanded (2022), Canorous began forming deeper partnerships with composers whose work reflects a wide range of musical voices, stylistic approaches, and performance contexts. This period marked a shift from a small publishing initiative to a growing creative collective grounded in collaboration, transparency, and professional trust.

By 2023, Canorous Music Publishing experienced steady growth in both visibility and repertoire, with works programmed by collegiate, community, and professional ensembles. The catalog broadened to include choral, solo vocal, and instrumental works while maintaining a consistent emphasis on music that is expressive, accessible, and pedagogically sound.

In 2024, the company strengthened its editorial infrastructure, refining submission guidelines, engraving practices, and review processes to ensure consistency and excellence across publications. These developments reinforced Canorous’s role as a publisher attentive to both academic standards and performance realities.

Most recently (2025), Canorous expanded into recordings and curated projects, further connecting published works with living performance traditions and extending the reach of its composers’ music.

Today, Canorous Music Publishing operates at the intersection of scholarship, artistry, and accessibility. We remain dedicated to championing composers, expanding the choral and vocal repertoire, and providing ensembles with music that is meaningful, well-crafted, and ready for performance.

For administrative and rights-management purposes, Canorous Music Publishing also operates Euphonic Music Publishing as a registered publishing entity with BMI. While Canorous Music Publishing remains the company’s primary imprint, this structure supports catalog administration and performance royalty reporting as required.

The development of Canorous Music Publishing reflects steady growth shaped by intention, collaboration, and evolving professional standards.

As we look ahead, Canorous continues to grow with purpose—guided by thoughtful curation, professional publishing practices, and a belief in the enduring power of choral and vocal music to educate, inspire, and connect communities.

Thoughtful publishing is not merely about producing scores, but stewarding music that endures.
